Bridging the Gap: Preparing Your JurisDiction for Civil Unrest
A resource guide for AHJ's Emergency Responders, elected officals and OTHERS.

This project is intended to provide guidance to fire departments that wish to develop plans related to any type of civil unrest that may affect the communities they serve. Specifically, we will consider planning from a fire prevention perspective as opposed to an operational or response viewpoint. As in almost any risk related issue, prevention can pay significant dividends - in this case in the form of reduced damage, reduced injuries, and enhanced firefighter safety. Our goal is to offer suggestions that will enhance your community’s overall safety by utilizing design, business operation, and informational ideas to reduce the opportunity for offenders to damage property through vandalism and fire setting. We will include both regulatory criteria, which may be required, as well as recommendations for businesses that may not be required, but would be useful to reduce damage during an event.

Available on-line or in-person, this course will promote an overall increase in awareness of the need for fire safe behavior on construction sites.  We will discuss the need for cultural changes in an attempt to make EVERY person on the job site a dedicated safety advocate.

If you are interested in hosting an in-person training event, contact us at 202-737-1226 or admin@firemarshals.org for more information.
